I am so excited to share this senior portrait session!! Sweet Sophia was an absolute gem to work with! Clearly she’s had a lot of experience in front of a camera while growing up. That made me all the more excited to capture photos of her!
Fun side story about how I found her: My brother is a Junior High teacher. I asked him if he had any past students who may be interested in having their senior photos taken. (They didn’t even have to be seniors! If you look like you could be a senior in high school, you’re in!) Lucky for me, Sophia was at the top of his list!
We met at sunrise at Ring Mountain Preserve in Corte Madera. I made sure to show up with hot drinks for 2 reasons:
We went through her clothes and picked out outfits for the session and then got around to chasing light!
Sophia was so natural in front of the camera. Again, lucky me! I felt I had to do very little to direct her. Not to mention her clothes were fantabulous! I mean, I’m no style guru, but if I had to describe Sophia’s style I would call it classy and sophisticated yet young and fun. I was in love with everything she wore. From the slouchy and sophisticated white sweater to (my personal fav) red sweater turtleneck, followed by the classic denim jacket and flowy colorful dress fitted with cowgirl boots and a hat, she ROCKED it! I could not have asked for a better senior model.
Please enjoy scrolling through some of my favorites from our session together and make sure to leave Sophia some love!
That post-sunrise light is so nice when you have a few trees to help diffuse it! Some of these first images are my absolute favorites! I kind of wish I had even more variety in this spot. That’s something I’m still working on as a photographer!
We hopped over to the fire road and captured a few sitting images next. I’ll humbly admit that I had her sit on my vest to keep the dirt off her pants and accidentally forgot to crop part of my vest out of some of the images! (Another thing I need to work on – paying attention to those small details while snapping photos. I did take notice after a minute or so, but need to notice that right from the start.) I didn’t include any of those here, though! 😀
I had to play around with a few black and white images. 😀
I just LOVE the photo below. Such a beautiful smile!
This red sweater though!!
She went full Carrie Underwood on me towards the end. It was fabulous!
I must admit, editing the images above were a challenge for me! The green from the grass cast green hues onto her skin, making it more difficult to achieve natural looking skin tones.
I hope you enjoyed scrolling through some of my favorite images from Sophia’s senior portrait session! Please leave her some love and let me know which ones are your favorites!
With love,
