Lamya’s senior portrait session was literally a manifestation of mine. You see, I had been eagerly dreaming about photographing a senior in an urban San Francisco setting that included brightly colored homes and foliage. I also imagined them wearing vibrant outfits that stood out against the colorful backdrops. Well lucky me! I got to work with Lamya and her senior portrait session totally delivered on all those points.
I photographed Lamya on the streets in San Francisco’s Marina District. We met outside of a school and walked around in search of beautiful light, brightly colored homes, and vibrant foliage. I love working on the streets of San Francisco because every block is so unique and offers a wide variety of backgrounds. It’s a totally different vibe from my traditional epic natural environment locations (that I still deeply love). Additionally, the tall homes and buildings provide lots of open shade that is an ideal light scenario for senior portraits. You can also find pockets of glowy light behind trees or around corners with beautiful foliage. Just remember to bring a reflector if you’re a photographer reading this!
Lamya’s session was so much fun, filled with tons of laughter and joy! I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. 🙂 Check out Lamya’s third outfit where she wore her roller skates! They’re super cute!
Lamya, thank you so much for trusting me to document this special time in your life. I had an absolutely amazing time working with you and I hope these images bring you joy for decades to come!
