Mackenzie’s Dreamy Senior Portrait Session

Senior portrait sessions at the beach are among my favorites, especially in the fall when you get sunsets like THIS! Mackenzie’s senior portrait session was absolute fire!

We couldn’t have asked for a better sunset at Muir Beach. Pastel hues of blue and pink filled the sky as the sun slowly set over the Pacific. Mackenzie was an absolute rockstar and took her shoes off so she could get in the water for some of the photos (my favorite)! We had so much fun getting creative with movement and using a slow shutter speed for parts of the session.

I love experimenting at photo sessions and will frequently ask my client if they want some fun double exposure or motion blur imagery in their galleries. Scroll down to see the variety of photos we captured in less than 90 minutes at her senior portrait session! (YES, there are double exposure and motion blur images! Can you find them?) Be sure to scroll to the bottom to see photo highlights from Mackenzie’s Senior Portrait session and give her some love in the comments below!

I like to begin my senior portrait sessions with some simple posing. It gets the senior comfortable taking directions from me and being in front of the camera. Then I’ll quickly add in some fun movement.

Mackenzie was SO AWESOME! She climbed onto this rock for some epic portraits. A big wave came up and made the perfect splash for the image below!!

I love the texture of the rock walls at beaches so I will often have people lean or sit against it to mix up the imagery!

I love this jean jacket Mackenzie brought to her session so I decided to give the images below a more retro vibe.

Here comes a double exposure. :

There’s another one below on the left. The second image was a blurred close up image of her dress that created what looks like a light leak.

Lots of play with motion blur. SO FUN!

So much laughter and joy. You can’t beat that genuine smile.

I may have gotten a little bit obsessed with taking feet photos…

Some of my absolute FAVORITE images are below!

A favorite double exposure. Sooo perfect.

A happy Mackenzie waving to the camera as the sun goes down behind her.

I actually really love it when the camera has a hard time finding focus because you’ll end up with images like this one below.

If you made it this far, be sure to leave Mackenzie some love in the comments!!
