5 Easy Poses to Make Couples Look Amazing

5 Easy Poses to Make Couples Look Amazing | Skyler Maire Photography

Over the past four years of my photography career, I’ve fallen in love with documenting couples. There’s something magical about freezing authentic moments of connection. Through time, I’ve discovered which poses create the most natural, beautiful images—and today, I’m sharing my top five go-to poses. They’re simple, they work for almost any couple, and best of all—they’re easy!

Each couple brings their own energy and level of comfort to a session, so it’s important to adjust as needed. But these poses have become my favorites because they help couples feel relaxed, confident, and genuinely connected. Let’s dive in!

1. The Belly Button Hug

Have your couple stand belly button to belly button, and ask one person to loosely drape their arms over the other’s shoulders. Whether they go for a gentle nose nuzzle, a soft kiss, or a playful sway, this pose always brings out sweet moments. For added fun, the person with their arms up can pop one leg—instant charm!

2. Hold Hands + Create Space

This pose was born from a request during one of my early sessions. A couple simply wanted to hold hands and stand side by side. It turned out to be an elegant and timeless pose. No need for walking—just let them hold hands and connect in the quiet simplicity of the moment.

3. The Playful Whisper

For a fun, candid vibe, have your couple stand belly to belly again, but this time ask one of them to blow raspberries or whisper breakfast foods in a sultry voice into the other’s ear. This playful approach guarantees laughter and natural reactions. It also works beautifully with one person standing behind the other.

4. The Reverse Prom Pose

For a fresh twist on the classic prom pose, place the shorter or smaller partner behind the other. The person in front can relax with hands in pockets while the person behind wraps them up gently and rests their head on their back. Whether they look into the camera or close their eyes, this pose radiates tenderness.

5. Lead the Way

Ask one person to lead the other, making sure both bodies face the camera. It’s even more adorable when the person in front glances back at the follower. This also works perfectly if one partner is helping the other climb or navigate uneven ground, adding a sense of adventure and teamwork to the shot.

These five poses are simple, natural, and have been my trusted tools in capturing genuine moments between couples. I hope you find them as helpful as I do!
