Fort Point National Historic Site holds a special place in my heart, not only because it’s EPIC but primarily because it’s near “my neck of the woods” in San Francisco. It was also a frequent marker on me and my partner’s training runs for the San Francisco marathon, as well as a location that you hit on the actual marathon, which makes the location even more meaningful to me. But one of the best parts? It is an incredible location for photos whether you’re a SF Bay Area resident or you’re visiting the Bay for a visit! If you’re looking for a stunning photo location, you’re in for a real treat. Documenting your photos at Fort Point is always a great idea (in my opinion). 😊

• Location: 201 Marine Dr, San Francisco, CA 94129
• Open hours: Fall to Spring, Friday – Sunday, 10am – 5pm
  • Summer: Typically open five days a week, 10am-5pm
  • Top floor always closes at 4:30pm
• Entry fee: FREE!
• Parking: FREE!
• Pets: Not allowed (bummer)

Special Notes

Check their website to see their hours ahead of time, as they sometimes shift. It’s also important to see if there’s a special event happening at or near Fort Point that might affect your photoshoot. For example: Blue Angels Air Show, Living History Weekend, 4th of July.

Located directly beneath the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Fort Point National Historic Site provides a dynamic and creative backdrop for a photoshoot and is completely free to enter! This dynamic location is full of creative frames and leading lines, making it an ideal spot for photos at Fort Point. It’s perfect for children who love to explore, as there are plenty of long halls and stairwells to meander, plus beautiful vistas on the top floor.

Do be warned, this location can get very windy! Because it’s located at the mouth of the bay, you’ll get that cool sea breeze at the top floor almost any day of the week. Rest assured, you’ll be mostly covered from the wind on the lower levels. 🙂
